AIPC Pandora works in Guatemala with the local coordinating organization INLEXCA, which has a long history of working with Municipal Offices for Women and Youth in the development of programs that seek the empowerment of women and youth.

¿En qué consiste el proyecto?
Just as it occurs almost without exception around the globe, in Guatemala, poverty is highly feminized. 56% of rural and indigenous women are illiterate and 69% of all economically active women in the country work in the informal or underground economy. In most cases, women establish small businesses of their own without having any prior advice or training. It is with these women that we work with this project.
What does the program offer?
- Opportunity to improve the living conditions of women and young people, beneficiaries of the Municipal Offices for Women and Youth and local NGOs, organizing dynamics and workshops focused on self-esteem, leadership, etc., in addition to training and talks given with an informal and close methodology, with the aim of supporting them in their goal of obtaining their economic independence.
- Cultural exchange in a volunteer project with local communities and living in the houses of local families.
- Personal growth by developing skills and confidence to interact in a country with a different culture, acquiring flexibility to learn, accept, respect, and live with other people whose culture and values may be different from ours.
