International Solidarity Summer NEPAL

Nepal, a country of contrasts where the highest peaks in the world give way to vast plains, Buddhist temples merge with Hindu places of worship, saris and traditional costumes are confused with the clothing of the hundreds of hikers from around the world who travel the Himalayas.

The challenges you'll face in this unique experience

The program takes place in the Chitwan district, in the southwest of the country, where you will immerse yourself in Nepalese culture while living with local families, integrating yourself in the daily life of the community and volunteering in environmental education and conservation.

What is the project about?

You will participate in two projects, the first educational, where you will teach English in the local school and develop educational, leisure and sport activities, in the afternoons with children and young people from a foster home.

 

The second project will allow you to experience the local agricultural economy first-hand by working with the farmers in tending the vegetable garden that produces the products needed to feed the local orphanage.

What does the program offer?

  • Educational volunteer activities in public school teaching English and doing educational and leisure activities with orphaned children or children from absent families, as well as participation in an environmental project, sustainable agriculture on local farms
  • Knowledge of the culture, religion, the imposing nature of Nepal and its people, through a complete program of cultural activities such as a visit to the Devghat shrine, trekking in Chitwan National Park or traditional dancing with the local community, and stay with host families.
  • Development of skills such as communication and interculturality or teamwork through constant practice of English and active participation in activities.
