The European Voluntary Service (EVS) is a European volunteer Program totally funded by the European Commission. All young people, between 17 and 30 years old, legally resident in Europe, have the opportunity to carry out an international volunteer service in an organization or in a public body in Europe, for a period ranging from 2 to 12 months. The program is free of charge. Travel expenses, accommodation, food, local transportation, health insurance, local language lessons and a monthly pocket money are covered and financed by the European Commission. The EVS is based on a partnership between the Sending Organization (SO), the Hosting Organization (HO) and the volunteer.
The program is based on values such as enhancing personal skills, learning another language and about its culture, developing communication and interpersonal skills, spreading tolerance and acceptance, promoting citizenship and, of course, supporting local communities in their work.
